Porcelain skin, tousled black emo hair, chiseled profile, and a slim body wrapped in dark lace like a character from a gothic novel. Mychajlo Deneka, a Ukrainian model, is the kind of guy you don’t often encounter in the world of gay male nudity: androgynous, seemingly fragile, but with a magnetic presence that catches your eye and won’t let go. And this series by Queerscapes aka Ed Galloway pushes dark eroticism to a level rarely seen.
Three images, three moods, each hitting differently. First the portrait: Mychajlo in profile, eyes downcast, a bare shoulder emerging from darkness, fingers gripping black lace. Light touches only the essentials — the prominent collarbone, the jawline, the hollow of his neck. It’s the kind of image that evokes Caravaggio’s chiaroscuro, except the subject isn’t a saint in ecstasy but a naked young man seemingly surrendering to something more carnal.
Dark romance and queer eroticism
Then comes the back shot, and here we shift. Mychajlo three-quarters from behind, hand placed on his own neck, bare back lit in chiaroscuro, the small of his back descending to a beautiful tight ass that’s round and firm. An ornate cross tattoo at the lower back — that famously loaded placement — adds a provocative touch to the whole. The earring catches a glint of light, a small tattoo visible on his neck. Everything in this image breathes dark romance: the lace, the darkness, the pale skin, the curve of his hips. We’re halfway between underground fashion portrait and assumptive erotic photography.
And then there’s the third shot, the most frontal, the most raw: a close-up of his soft cock, tightly framed, blonde pubic hair contrasting with his fair skin.
