There are guys who pose nude and look like they’re apologizing for it. And then there’s Brett Banks. He settles on the bed of a posh Los Angeles hotel, spreads his thighs, flexes his biceps, and looks you straight in the eye with that cocky little smirk that says “yeah, I know.” Shot by Ryan Stanford, one of LA’s most prolific gay photographers, this series is pure concentrated unapologetic masculinity – hair, tattoos, and full frontal nudity without a hint of hesitation.
A Blue-Eyed, Tattooed Rugby Player Physique
Brett Banks has the body of a guy who lifts heavy and doesn’t hide it. Broad shoulders, thick pecs covered in dense fur, massive arms decorated with sleeve tattoos – realistic flowers on one arm, an octopus and tribal work on the other, script across his chest. All on fair skin dotted with freckles and covered in natural body hair that trails from his pecs down to his pubes via a solid belly. His clear blue eyes contrast with his neatly trimmed brown beard, and his dark blond hair is slicked back with a short fade on the sides. The kind of guy who fills a doorframe – and a hotel bed.
In Briefs on the Bed, Then Not at All
The first shots show him in black and blue briefs, kneeling on white sheets, arms behind his head, hairy pits on display, his package perfectly outlined in the fabric. Sitting in a chair, thighs spread, he stares you down with quiet confidence that leaves no doubt about what’s coming next. And it comes: the briefs eventually disappear. Naked on the bed, leaning back against the pillows, one hand resting on his soft cock, he’s as relaxed as if he were watching TV. Then standing, facing you, knees on the mattress in front of the fashion prints on the wall – arms flexed in a double bicep pose, dick visible between hairy thighs. The contrast between the designer room and this raw body is exactly what makes the series work.
Ass Against the Window
And then there’s that shot by the floor-to-ceiling window. In profile, hands pressed against the glass, LA rooftops in the background, his arched back reveals a beautiful round ass, meaty and covered in light fuzz. Back muscles ripple under his skin, tattoos catching the natural light. It’s the kind of shot that makes you imagine what comes next – what the photographer didn’t show, or maybe did, somewhere else.
Ryan Stanford is a gay photographer based in Los Angeles, known for his work with models who break the usual mold: guys with hair, tattoos, personality and charisma rather than smooth and filtered perfection. Published in Eroticco Magazine, The Advocate and YASS Magazine among others, he describes his work as “little ephemeral romances” with his models – a perspective that transforms each series into something intimate and real. With Brett Banks, he found the perfect subject: a guy who owns everything, shows everything, and clearly isn’t afraid of anything.
